20m Away from the Holy Pope Benedict XVI

Pope Benedict's Visit in Munich
Besuch des Papst Benedict XVI in München
9. September 2006

This is the biggest event which happens in this week in Bavaria. The Holy Pope Benedict XVI visits his homeland Bavaria. He wasn't born in Munich, but he hold the position as Bishop of Munich and Freising for a moment and therefore he has a special relation to the people in Munich.
It starts with the visit in Munich and I took this chance to go to the city and hope to be able to see him.

I missed the mass in the Marienplatz already, however I found out that the Pope is still meeting german politicians in the Residenz München, therefore I went directly to Odeonsplatz and walk there. Surprisingly it wasn't full at all and I even could stand directly behind the barricade.

Chinese New Year - Reunion Dinner

28th January 2006, Phoenix Asia Restaurant, Munich

29th of January 2006, is the chinese new year. And on the new year's eve, I joined the other indonesian students to go for a dinner.
We went to a chinese restaurant in Munich, it's name is Phoenix Restaurant. Somehow it's quite popular among the indonesian students, because of the price for "all you can eat" and the taste of the food they serve. For this "all you can eat", each person only need to pay less than € 6, and you can take as much and as often as you want.

The food is not bad. They had roasted duck, several different dishes with chicked meat, satay and even mussels. Specially the mussels were the favorite among us...

Unlike in Indonesia, in Germany there are so many chinese restaurants which serve "all you can eat". I think this is also because of the German / European custom, where the food is served individually for each person. This is not common in Indonesia, where we use to order several different food, which is served in the middle of the table, and every person can take by himself. Well.. different country have different custom...
