Radiotheraphy Division Trip to Spitzingsee
Last Friday, 16 December 2005, I joined the Radiotheraphy division trip to Spitzingsee, somewhere 1 hour drive from Munich. It was already planned around 1 week before, but exactly on that day, the weather wasn't friendly at all. It was very windy, and also snowing... But since everything was book already, so we still went there.
I didn't have exact imagination about what we were going to do. On the email I recieved, it stands "Mondschein Rodeln" (english moonlight sledging). I never play sledging before, so I didn't know much about it.
Around 17:30 we went together with the bus, about 25 people were still joining the trip, although in Munich we could feel the bad weather already.
The Adventure Begins
We arrived there around 20:00, and the wind was quite strong, on the parking place, I couldn't face against the wind direction, because of the strong snow storm. The biggest suprise for me was that we need to walk up to the hill. OK, no problem !!!! Then I saw the sign... 2,5 km !! OK.. I could do that... and I heard that it'll take around 40 minutes under normal condition. Damn.... that's long.... and we had a snow storm on that day....
All of us climbed to the top of the hill, because there is a guesthouse upstair, where we had the dinner, and rent the slegde. It was more like condition training for me. 50 minutes walk up to the hill, under a snow storm, and thick fresh snow on the ground. Every footstep, your feet will go 10-20 cm under the snow. I was really the last person who reached the guesthouse on the hill, totally tired, and even sweated on the freezing temperature.
The guest house was nice, we had dinner, a lot of talk, and pictures... It also have rooms to rent, but we didn't stay overnight there.....
The restaurant was nice... It's quite big too, and it was full. So it's quite famous, although the location is somehow quite unusual for me.
Sledging down the hill
At 21:20 we alreday have to go back down to the bus. And we are going to slegde down from the top of the hill, which is 2,5 km long sledging path. So we walked up 50 minutes long, just to sledge down 1 time. I didn't expect that....
OK.. we rent the sledge for 3€ each, and started to leave the guest house. We walked, and walked and walked... Why?? Because we couldn't sledge down... The snow was too soft and too thick, the sledge went deep into the snow, and couldn't slide downthe hill. Well.. we walked up, and now we had to walk down pulling our sledge board. Well in some part of the path, we could sledge, but it was probably around 100m only. Compared to the 2,5km long path, that's nothing.
Well.. that was the division trip for the year 2005. For me, it was a nice experience, since within 6 years living in Germany I never went to the place with that much of snow....
