Nice Place to Eat in Surabaya

Taman Gapura Citraland

Well... today is Saturday, and just finished my dinner, a german Schlemmerfillet, frozen one of course....
Suddenly I remember those Indonesian food, nice and cheap food.....

On Saturday this is one of the place I and my friend use to go in Surabaya. I don't really know the name for the place, but it's located in Jalan Taman Gapura, in Citraland / Citraraya real estate in west part of Surabaya.

Taman Gapura is the street name, and on the side of the street, there are so many restaurants, and food stalls, mostly they have indoor room, but most of the people just love to eat outside.

I haven't tried everything there, because most of the time I went there, we just seat near the 2 food seller, which selling "Tahu Campur" (Mixed Tofu soup) and "Tahu Telor" (Tofu and Egg, with black peanut sauce), these 2 food are one of the typical Javanese food, and one of my favorite. The food prices are considerably cheap, the location is clean and nice, specially at night it's not too hot to eat on the side of the street.

Sushi @ Hachi Hachi Bistro

On the Taman Gapura, about the end ef the street, there are 2 Restaurants, with Sushi as their specialities. Both restaurant are called "Hachi Hachi Bistro", both of them are exactly the same restaurant, and located opposite to each other.

"Hachi Hachi" is famous for their "modified" sushi. There you won't find any "conveyor belt" not like in normal sushi bar. Futhermore, you might be surprised if you see their sushi, specially if you are "hardcore fans" of traditional sushi. A very nice example is "Volcano", fried sushi, as far as I can remember, with mayonaise inside, and chilly sauce on the top. It's served in form of a mountain, and the chilly sauce is the red lava flowing from the top.
